POLEKO and KOMTECHNIKA fairs are the only place in Poland and Central - Eastern Europe where such complex offer from the sector of environmental protection and municipal technologies is presented. Each year, both events attracting international attention are visited by numerous professionals: representatives of self-governments, environmental protection inspectorates, companies which utilize, collect and process waste, sewage plants, water and sewage system plants, melioration plants, regional water management boards, power distribution plants, combined heat and power plants, power plants, industrial plants from the sector of mining and metallurgy (POLEKO), as well as companies which offer clearing services for cities and towns, municipal management departments, municipal management plants, green areas maintenance enterprises and roads authorities (KOMTECHNIKA). All in all, both events, together with GMINA Fair of Products and Services for Local Governments which are held simultaneously were visited by nearly 20 000 guests.
The fairs also attracted media attention – almost 200 journalist accreditations were issued. These numbers suggest that issues of ecology and self-government are more and more popular – the media, which educate the society, are aware that eco-friendly attitudes are not only fashion anymore but a lifestyle and in the same time one’s duty as a citizen.

Topics which electrified the industry

Each year POLEKO and KOMTECHNIKA fairs are appreciated for the rich programme of conferences, debates and shows – this year over forty events of this type took place. They were prepared in co-operation with ministries, trade chambers, sector associations and publishing houses and they constituted a priceless addition for the topics of the fair which included e.g. issues from the renewable energy sources market, energetic efficiency, recycling, waste management, fighting industrial breakdowns, innovations in water and sewage management, environmental protection in sports or obtaining EU funds.

A lot of time and space were devoted to the incredibly up-to-date from the point of view of legislation topic of waste management. The problem was discussed during Envicon International Environmental Protection Congress organized by Abrys company in co-operation with the Poznań International Fair. A two-day seminar which accompanied the fairs focused on the problems connected with interpreting new regulations in the context of EU directives and methods of creating an integrated system of waste management in Poland. Similar issues were discussed during the conference titled “The Role of Self-Government Companies and Self-Governments in Creating a Waste Management System in the Light of the Novelization of the Act on the Maintenance of Commune in a Clean and Orderly State” organized by the National Board of Waste Management.
Everyday lectures and presentations held during the Forum of Pure Energy, organized by Abrys, and the Globe Full of Energy organized by the editorial office of GLOBEnergia magazine, were a unique opportunity to familiarize with the topic of renewable energy sources.
